Objectives of the Network

The Network Manager arranged an initial meeting of key regeneration personnel from across the 5 towns on 18th November 2004. This event brought together possible Network participants in order to discuss how best to work towards the following objectives :

  • A more co-ordinated approach to urban regeneration and town centre management across the coastal strip
  • A forum to share information, best practice and lessons learned
  • Increasing the skills base of regeneration, economic development and planning practitioners in the 5 Towns
  • A sequenced approach to accessing SEEDA (AIF) funding

Future of the 5 Towns Network Project

Negotiations are currently taking place with SEEDA and key stakeholders regarding the continuation of the 5 Towns Network project. Discussions for the future are currently focused around continuing the good work of the project through cross-boundary working, sharing best practice and information, networking and the capacity building programme.

Funding has been secured for 2008/09 to continue the good work of the project through cross-boundary working, sharing best practice and information, networking and the capacity building programme for local authority offices and Elected Members. We are currently working with partners and key stakeholders to agree priorities for the training and development programme which will be publicised shortly on the upcoming events page.
