Module 6: Member Involvement in Major Applications -
Planning Advisory Service - Howard Cheadle
Tuesday 10th March 2009 and
Tuesday 17th March 2009
Richmond Room, Edes House, County Hall, Chichester
This
module has been developed as part of an online set of training modules from
the Planning Advisory Service. Led by Howard Cheadle of Cheadle Consultancy
and designed to cover two evening seminars, this pilot module established:
- Members’ key role
- The performance agenda
- Delivery of LDF and other corporate objectives
- The role of delegation schemes
Attended well by a number of Members and officers, this successful pilot was engaging and thought provoking as it explored how members can get involved and good practice in performance and managing development. It also explained the policy framework and particular policy areas such as sustainable standards of design and planning obligations.
Documents :
- Councillor involvement in pre application discussions (.PDF 48kb)
- Seminar notes (.PDF 132kb)
- Presentation 1 (.PDF 4.6mb)
- Presentation 2 (.PDF 45kb)
Feedback / Comments :
- I felt I got as much as possible from the event
- I found it useful to hear Member views in relation to issues and concerns in the development process
- Please encourage other courses like this for the future
- The speaker was very knowledgable and evokes many comments
- I liked the way the first session challenged everyone to think about roles rather than setting out the suggested answers
- Pity more non DC and District members weren’t there. I think they would have benefited greatly.
- I think it was useful and well run
