South Coast Young Planners Meeting : Ecotowns & Sustainable Design

Venue: Look & Sea Centre, Littlehampton
A South Coast Young Planners Meeting supported by the South Coast Design Forum and 5 Town Network was held on Thursday 17th July at the Look and Sea Centre, Littlehampton.
This meeting focused on Ecotowns and Sustainable Design in light of the recent Eco-Town proposal at Ford, West Sussex. Talks included Lisa Jackson from Turley Associates on an exemplar Eco-Town in Hampshire, Karen Dower, Planning Policy Manager at Arun District Council on the local authority perspective of dealing with an Eco Town proposal, Ian Hamilton of Fulcrum Consulting on Masterplanning Sustainability with Major Projects and Carl Leroy-Smith of Deer Park Alpha and director of SCDF on the importance of design in the planning process. Twenty three planners attended this event from neighbouring local authorities of Hampshire and Brighton including attendees from Arun, Chichester and Adur district councils. This event was enjoyable and thought provoking.
