IDeA Follow-up Session
25th June 2008

This
follow up day long event to the IDeA
workshop we held on the 13th and 14th March 2008 for Elected Members was aimed at a wider audience and aimed to :
- Raise awareness of the place shaping agenda and a clear knowledge of the policy framework for place shaping
- To learn about best practice in cross boundary working to build sustainable communities
- To share priorities and begin to develop a shared understanding of the potential next steps in collaborative working in this agenda
- To develop a shared understanding of the next steps in cross boundary working in this agenda
- Networking and partnership building opportunity
This event was attended by 25 delegates comprising of Elected Members from West Sussex County Council, Chichester District, Adur & Worthing Councils and Arun District. Senior officers also attended from all 4 local authorities including the LSC.
The last session of the day was an interactive workshop to :
- Identify options for partnership working
- Identify priorities
- Action Planning & Next Steps
One of the main outcomes of the last session of the day when discussing the way forward was to merge the Coastal West Sussex Partnership and the 5 Towns Network and look at a new governance structure for Coastal West Sussex. The outcomes of this session are available to download below.
Feedback / Comments :
- A good event and well worth attending
- Working alongside Elected Members, networking opportunities, excellent presentations from Julie Cowans and Janice Morphet
- An opportunity to present our partnership approaches
- Understanding of the private sector contributions - Julie Cowans was particularly challenging for my current role
- It was a great event and hopefully we can move forward from here with the west sussex coastal partnership as well.
