The aim of the event was :
- to provide guidance on effective community leadership for councillors, officers and partners
- to raise awareness, identify good practice and encourage wider sharing of ideas and approaches nationally
- to encourage further debate and joined-up working around the community cohesion agenda nationally
- to both debate and contribute to the development of national policy on community cohesion, integration and equalities
- to contribute to an understanding of how councils can benchmark and measure improvements in community cohesion
- to look at key issues facing ‘shire county’ authorities, including migration, large scale new developments, opportunities for young people and the relationship between town and the surrounding rural communities.
